Routine as privilege.

We often complain about being stuck in a routine.

That our lives lack adventure and excitement.

Trapped in the comparison cycle.

But it’s funny how when we’re in the comparison cycle, we’re always looking at those whose lives appear to be better than ours.

How often do we look the other way?

Those living in extreme poverty. The ones whose countries are war torn.

Surely that gives us more perspective?

A life of routine can be a sign that things are stable, peaceful.

A sign that you’re doing good - and above all - you’re lucky.

Thinking about those in Gaza right now, how much would they crave that feeling of normalcy? The ability to enjoy their morning coffee, spending time with loved ones and planning for a future? Safety, quiet nights and even boredom become yearnings.

I guess I'm writing this as a reminder to myself. A reminder to let myself step outside of my bubble, and really look at the world.

Because right now, my bubble is just that - a bubble.
